To be honest, we live on a kibbutz and G sees cows and horses legit every day. But I gotta hand it to Givat Brenner's lil' zoo, they do a fabulous job and provided a full morning of entertainment. We went on a Saturday and got there first thing when they opened at 10:00, because let's face it, we would have come at 7:00 if they were open!

The entrance fee is a bit steep - almost 100 shekels for the three of us, but it was for sure worth it. There are a decent amount of animals - nothing fancy or San Diego Zoo-like about the place. It's more like if your neighbor was raising some chickens and a few lizards, but there were enough animals to get the job done. The other activities to partake in include:

  • Bunny rabbit petting area: I got way too excited for this. They give you sweet fuzzy bunnies in a basket and you get to cuddle their sweet fuzzy faces.

  • Make your own pita: You get a piece of dough and a rolling pin to roll out your personal sized pita. The 15 year old manning the station will cook it for you in the taboon, and they you add some chocolate spread and viola - magic happens.

  • Feed the goats: Gather 'round kiddies and another 15 year old will tell you about the goats and you can feed them, pet them, love them in an open pen.

  • Pony ride: As much as G talks the talk, she could not walk the walk...or ride the ride. Homegirl loves horses, but when I went to put her on one, she freaked out. Oh, well, maybe next time. But there is a short little ride for those adventurous 3 year-old cowboys and cowgirls.

  • Coloring station: Just next to the turtles, there is an arts and craft station with coloring and clay.

There is also an open area on the lawn with mats and pillows if you want to picnic or hang out in the sun. Oh, and very important moms and dads: the all you can drink coffee and tea station on the house. Hell, yes.
