It's Saturday morning and you want to get outside, but don't feel like planning and schlepping to the Galilee or the Negev in order to feel like you are and outdoorsy adventurer. Understood. That's why this hike is perfect. Park Canada is off road 3 near Latrun, about a 35 min drive from Tel Aviv. The hike starts from the easily accessible parking lot, where there are picnic benches and sweet pools of water.

Click on the link to the park site and click on the Adobe icon, which will download the map of the park for you. Once you do that, keep reading: We parked at the parking sign across from the blue little lake (depicted here by the marking אגם in Hebrew). We walked along the dashed green trail called שביל אמת המים - shvil emet hamayim. Feel free to walk as much or as little as your sweet heart desires.

This covered well provided a solid 15 min of entertainment.

The path will take you with the water, and you can walk along as far as you would like. We casually trekked along until we felt like turning back the way we came, stopping along the way to let G out of her carrier to practice walking/running/falling.

There are spooky burial caves called arcosolia (in case you want to wow your friends) from the Roman/Byzantine period aka 1600 years ago - bam! The vegetation is lovely and you'll spot carob trees, grape vines and of course date palms. There is an aqueduct (old skool water system) along the entire route with explanations and diagrams in Hebrew.
