Gan B'Ivrit in Rishon Letzion

Updated: Aug 16, 2020

Length: 2-4 hours

Mode of Transport: stroller, carrier, push bike

Why go? So.Much.To.Do

Toilet: Yes

What to bring? cash, water, snacks, hat

Entrance fee: free, but certain rides + the train costs money

My husband and I ro'shambo'ed to see who got to ride the train with G and who was left behind to take pictures. I lost...womp.

The family went out to celebrate my mom-in-laws bday with the whole gang (aka 8 adults and 6 kids under the age of 6). Plus we wanted to have breakfast on Shabbat morning. What sounded like the impossible was a huge success, thanks to my ingenious sister-in-law who suggested Gan B'Ivirit (גן בעברית) in Rishon Letzion.

We devoured a most tasty breakfast at Cafe Gan Sipour (קפה גן סיפור) on their lovely deck, which is right smack in the middle of the park. There are no reservations taken for Shabbat, so we got there right as they opened at 9:00 and had no problems getting seats. Our bellies were full of eggs, fresh breads, o.j, dips and cheeses.

We set the kids loose around the park, which, put me in sensory overload, and I'm a grown woman...so I can imagine their excitement. The park is public and super fun. Lots of play ground space for tiny babes up to age 10. Most all play areas are covered with shade. The park gets it's name kudos to Hebrew letters and words splashed around the place - bonus points for the educational factor, Rishon!

Wouldn't you do this if it was social acceptable for grownups?

Highlights include:

The water fountain that shoots up geyser style like Old Faithful

Endless things to climb and swing on

Giant moving blocks with Hebrew words - great for moms like me who are in perpetual ulpan (womp womp)

The train ride (10 shekels a person)

Bounce house and rides (also costs a few sheks a kiddo)

Once you work up a sweat, there is a kiosk for the coveted popsicle or ice cream, and hallelujah for clean public bathrooms. Or tons of trees to pick from if you 'lil one is potty training.

Including breakfast we were there from 9:00 - 12:30 and had a blast. G fell asleep literally before we pulled out of the parking lot. Speaking of, as we left, parking was packed, and the crazy Israeli side of things started creeping in. So, my advice get there early and enjoy.
